At Hurst Farm Supply, we depend on the integrity and spirit of the hard working community that supports us. We see our values reflected in those of our customers, and are grateful to be surrounded by people who work constantly to improve the lives of others.
We strive to give back to the community as best we can, and one of our favorite ways to do so is through the annual Hurst benefit drawing done in conjunction with Women’s Protective Services of Lubbock.
Women’s Protective Services
The goals and values of Women’s Protective Services are clear, and can be found directly within the organization’s mission statement:
“The mission of Women's Protective Services of Lubbock, Inc. is to create an environment of empowerment for women, children, and families to eliminate family violence.”
For nearly 40 years, WPS has been working diligently to do just that. Beginning simply as a small group of citizens concerned about the prevalence of domestic violence in their community, WPS has (with the help of many selfless volunteers and generous donations from the community) grown to a highly depended-upon organization with 24 full-time and 15 part time staff members.
In May of 1999, WPS was able to move into its current facility. This facility offers 24 apartments with beds for 204 women and children working to regain the self-sufficiency and freedom that was lost after years of abuse.
Each woman in the facility has access to resources like:
- Laundry facilities
- Free clinic
- Children’s playrooms
- Group counseling rooms
- Individual counseling
- Group meetings
- Legal services
In addition to the ability to build independence and self-sufficiency, this facility, above all, provides women with safety. For a more extensive list of services provided, please visit the services page on the WPS website.
The 18th Annual Hurst Benefit Drawing
At Hurst Farm Supply, we believe WPS of Lubbock is providing an essential service to those in need in our community. As part of our mission to “Harvest Hope,” we are proud to be able to help WPS through our annual benefit drawing.
The drawing is held during the “Planting Seeds for Change” event at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center on August 19th, 2017, at 5:30 pm. Each ticket purchased admits a ticket holder and one adult guest into the event. The ticket will include a silent auction, food provided by Jeana’s Feed Bag, as well as music and dancing provided by Levi Fowler.
We look forward to this event every year! It’s a fun night of laughter, goodwill, and service that helps an incredibly important Lubbock organization.
We’re also excited about our drawing items this year, which include:
- JOHN DEERE 3025E TRACTOR PACKAGE (w/loader, shredder, box blade, and trailer)
- JOHN DEERE 825i S4 GATOR
- JOHN DEERE 625i S2 GATOR
This year, we’re adding a “second chance drawing” to the lineup: a John Deere Z915E 54” commercial mower!
Tickets can be purchased for a $100, tax-deductible donation from your nearest Hurst Farm Supply location, or by calling WPS at (806) 748-5292.
We can’t wait for this exciting event, and truly hope to see you there!
