As Father’s Day approaches, we wanted to take some time to reflect on Dad. We asked members of the Hurst Farm Supply team to share with us what Father’s Day means to them. Many shared their favorite memories and lessons from their own fathers as well as what it means for them to be a dad themselves.

Grab the tissues and enjoy a few stories from our team members.

What does Father’s Day mean to you?

“Father’s Day is an opportunity for me to express my love and respect to my best friend, my dad. The man who taught me what love is. He taught me how to love God, how to love my wife, how to love my kids, how to love my family and how to love my country.

He taught me what hard work is, to never quit, never give up and to always do my best. He taught me to stand up for myself and to always do what’s right.  He’s tough as nails but compassionate. He’s forgiving even when I don’t deserve it. He’s the man that, no matter what, has always been there for me. He’s picked me up and dusted me off more times than I can count.

He’s taught me his passions, his hobbies and showed me a family that plays together stays together. He’s a man's man.  He’s never had anything handed to him and he’s always worked hard for anything he ever had. He’s worked until his hands bled. He works sick, tired and even when he doesn’t want too. He’s never complained or griped about it. He’s always provided for his family. He made sacrifices so we didn't have too. He’s always made the best out of bad situations, kept his chin up and kept digging.

He’s a real man, the kind they don’t make anymore. He’s the man who taught me how to be a man. Most of all, he’s my dad. If I can ever be half the man he is someday, I know I’ll be ok. I’ll never be able to thank you for everything you’ve done for me, Dad.

Happy Father’s Day. I love you, Dad.”

“Father's Day is about memories. My dad passed October 21, 2014, and every year I get flooded with childhood memories of learning to fish, learning to dance, and my favorite - learning to tell a good story.”

  • Marissa Seedig, Service Clerk

“Father’s Day  means setting aside one day for a man who has spent a lifetime loving, teaching, supporting, and sacrificing for me and my five siblings. A man that taught us to do what is right and to love the Lord. A man who has always been there when we needed him. One day for many years of selfless giving.”

  • Orvin Ellis, Parts Manager

“My father died nearly 46 years ago, and there is not a day that goes by that I do not think of him and wish that I could have had more time to spend with him.”

  • Tommy Knight, Inventory Manager

“The greatest gift I ever had came from God, and I called him my dad.”

  • Jamie Thomas, Controller

“It's a time for reflection and gratitude for blessings I have received being a dad.

Looking back, I ask myself, 'Have I been the best dad I can be to my girls? Have I set the right example? Have I shown them the encouragement, love, and pride that I have for them? Have I given them what they need to be successful, to know their true worth, that they are highly cherished and valued, by not only me but God our Father?'

I always thank God for blessing me with two awesome daughters. God gave me a passion for being a dad, and I love every minute of it!”
